Music listing
Kyle Newmaster is a professional composer and trumpet player living in Los Angeles, CA. Kyle, born in 1975, became involved in music at an early age. Having studied both piano and trumpet, he enjoyed performing in a whole array of musical situations from jazz ensembles, to orchestras, to concert bands. In 1993 he studied music at the University of Wisconsin Eau-Claire, where he performed in and composed for the award winning and Grammy nominated, Jazz Ensemble 1. During his studies at Eau-Claire, Kyle’s focus shifted from performing to composing, and he opted to pursue a Master’s degree in ‘Contemporary Media and Jazz Composition,’ earning his degree from the prestigious Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY. At the Eastman School, Kyle was the TA for both the jazz composition department and the Film Scoring Lab. Upon graduating from Eastman, Kyle received the Ray Schirmer Award for Jazz composition, awarded annually to one student. Thereafter, Kyle was privileged to win one of a select few ASCAP Composer scholarships from ‘The Henry Mancini Institute’ in consecutive years (2001 and 2002), where he composed an overture for the Mancini Institute’s 90-person studio orchestra. Upon completion of the Mancini programs, his decision to move to Los Angeles to become a full time composer was easily made. Kyle now composes and records for many musical genres and mediums. He has scored over 20 independent films, orchestrated for a variety of projects including two string pieces performed by Charlie Haden’s ‘American Dreams’ ensemble and published many original compositions through the organizations, ‘Increase Music’ and ‘Really Good Music’. Kyle also works as producer and arranger for Vitamin Records on string tribute albums and has worked on tributes to artists such as Phish, Faith Hill, George Strait and Santana. Kyle continues to work on numerous commissions to compose for orchestras on all levels including high school, college and professional ensembles. In 2004 Kyle began a collaborative effort with fellow visionary composers Gordy Haab and Dave Chiappetta to create a 90-piece contemporary studio orchestra based out of Los Angeles. The orchestra is called the ‘Novo Philharmonic.’
