Hornist Anna Suechting has performed throughout Chicago and the Midwest in a wide variety of orchestras and other ensembles. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Lawrence University, where she studied with James DeCorsey, and a Master of Music degree from DePaul University, where she studied with Jon Boen and Oto Carrillo. |
Anna recently was a member of the Lucerne Festival Academy Orchestra in Lucerne, Switzerland, where she performed under the baton of Pierre Boulez. She has also performed as a regular and substitute member with Civic Orchestra of Chicago, Illinois Symphony, Quad City Symphony, Dubuque Symphony, Peoria Symphony, Oistrach Symphony, and numerous other freelance ensembles around the Chicago area. Anna is a founding member of Chicago brass trio V3nto, a group for which she also composes and arranges. She also sings, fiddles and plays various horns in the Barehand Dixieland band and Jonas Friddle and the Majority, both active Chicago bands.
A dedicated educator, Anna teaches private horn and violin lessons to young students across Chicago and is on the faculty of the Old Town School of Folk Music and DePaul Universityís Community Music division.
As a member of the brass trio V3nto, Anna was a recent winner of the Chicago Brass Festival Ensemble Competition. Anna was the winner in the College Winds Division of the 2009 Union League and Civic Arts Foundation Solo Competition in Chicago. She also took second place in the solo horn competition for the International Horn Societyís 2006 Midwest Horn Workshop, as well as being the winner and runner-up of several concerto competitions at both Lawrence and DePaul Universities.
