||"Cavalry Quick-Step" by Claudio S. Grafulla (1810-1880) has been transcribed by Nicholas J. Contorno for modern Concert Band/Marching Band. This was edited by Thomas L. Dvorak. Grafulla was one of the outstanding composers/conductors of Civil War era bands. This work is one of the many pieces he wrote that retain the charm and dignity of the literature of the time by itís formal simplicity. The opening fanfare seems to be a direct quote from Haydnís "Military Symphony, No 100 in G Major. Parts are flip folder size. With the 150th Anniversary of the Civil War this music seem especially appropriate. This is the actual music that Civil War marching bands played on the march!
