||"Samba Verde" by Bill Schmid has been arranged from the original Jazz Ensemble work into a Brass Quintet with Drum Set. Unique in the literature...this is a sure fire crowd pleaser. “Samba Verde” was originally written in 1994 for jazz ensemble and premiered that same year at the Savannah Jazz Festival. (It is also published by Really Good Music). This arrangement, for brass quintet and drum set, was written in 2012. The piece is a high-energy samba that features the first trumpet extensively, in roles as a lead trumpeter and as an improviser. The improvised solo concludes with a call-and-response section with the other horns. This brass quintet arrangement was premiered by the Georgia Southern University Faculty Brass at the 2012 Sigma Alpha Iota Triennial Convention.
