||"A Song for General Washington" was written by Chris Simonson in Jan. 2016. Written by request from two of his students due to the lack of any music for their unique duo (Timpani and Euphonium) , Mr . Simonson wrote this very clever version of "Yankee Doodle". This is also available for Timpani and : Trom.; Bassoon; Fl.; Ob.; Xylo.; Trpt.; Cl.; T.C. Baritone; Alto Sax; Horn in F and Tuba. The students love this music. Highly recommended. Not difficult. The composer writes: " It seems every year, or so, I have a percussionist and a wind player that would like to play a duet at solo/ensemble. The problem is, there is very little music that I have been able to find that fits the bill. With this issue facing me, I composed "A Song for General Washington" or "Yankee Duo." It incorporates the original tune in 4/4 time, followed by a variation in 6/8, a hocket - where the melody is passed between the timpani and euphonium - and a recap of the original duet. Included are melody parts for all standard instruments in the band. "
