||Pasiónata (for solo piano; commissioned by Sean Botkin in 2014)
Influenced by the music of the great Latin-jazz pianist Michel Camilo, Pasiónata exudes an overt sensuality from beginning to end. Permeated by Afro-Cuban rhythms throughout, this piece is an excellent encore selection for the accomplished pianist: a real tour de force. Following the sultry Chopinesque beginning the composition evolves, gradually and inexorably, to a fiery climax. Replete with erotic lyricism, chop-busting intensity, and everything in between, this piece lives up to its title! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8jfqvt14UHQ Also available as a PDF.
