Description "Skye Boat Song" is a slow Scottish air originally notated by Annie MacLeod written in 6/8 time to imitate the rowing of the boat in which she first heard the tune in the 1870s and has since found new popularity as the opening theme song for the Outlander television series. The original lyrics were contributed by Sir Harold Boulton, but have since been adapted to Robert Louis Stephensonís poem entitled "Sing Me A Song of a Lad that is Gone" describing the escape of Prince Charles Stuart after the battle of Culloden in 1746. Stephensonís lyrics are included in this beautiful concert band arrangement of "Skye Boat Song" with vocal soloist. Also available as a PDF.
