Joe Caploe is currently in his fifth year as Director of Percussion & Jazz
Studies at the University of Wisconsin Platteville. He directs the
UW-Platteville Jazz I Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, Panjamas (steel drum band), several combos and the percussion studio. |
He received a B.A. in Music from San Jose State University and a Masters of Fine Arts from California Institute of the Arts. Performing and recording in a wide variety of musical settings, some of the artists he has worked with include Bobby
McFerrin, Todd Phillips, Paul McCandless, Rare Earth, Babatunde Olatunji, Clare Fischer, Phil Mattson, Ted Curson, Chester Thompson, David Berkman, Nashville Repertory Theater, San Jose Civic Light Opera, San Jose Symphony Orchestra, Dubuque Symphony and Al Delory among many others.
In 1991 he toured Israel and Canada with Music Theatre Group of New York in theproduction of "Juan Darien". He also has two releases"Hearsay"and"Cetasean Songs" as a leader on his own CD label Nextagem and is ready to release "Egress" by Lewis/ Caploe Group with fellow UWP faculty member Dr. Mike Lewis. He is currently President of the Wisconsin Percussive ArtsSociety and will host the WI PAS Days of Percussion 2003.
