Cherilee Wadsworth Walker

Cherilee Wadsworth Walker is a former military musician, who has toured more than 25 countries, arranging for and performing with United States Navy and NATO concert and jazz bands. She has performed at the Rose of Tralee Festival in Ireland; the Rome Jazz Festival; World Military Games; and has opened for such artists as John Hammond, The Mills Brothers, The Four Lads, and Willie Nelson. In April, 2001, her jazz choir performed at the Vocal Jazz festival at Carnegie Hall at the invitation of Phil Mattson.

Holding degrees in music theory from Baldwin-Wallace Conservatory and jazz studies from Indiana University, she is has her Doctorate in music education from the University of Oklahoma. Her research has been presented and published by the International Association for Jazz Education; International Alliance for Women in Music; Society of Composers, Inc.; Ohio,Oklahoma, and Illinois Music Educators Association. Ms. Walker served as Assistant Professor of Music at Illinois Central College, where she directed the Vocal Jazz Ensemble and taught jazz history. She currently is the Dean of Humanities & Fine Arts at Kansas City Community College.
