Elijah Grajkowski was born in 1972 in St. Paul, Minnesota and started playing the trumpet while in 6th grade after his family moved to Wisconsin. In junior high, he developed an interest in composing and arranging music.
After graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in May of 1996 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education, he started his career as the instrumental music teacher with the Chippewa Area Catholic Schools in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. There, he taught band to students in grades 5-12, conducted the high school musicals and led the middle school and high school jazz ensembles and combos.
In August of 2000, Eli started working for the School District of Elmbrook, which serves students in Brookfield and Elm Grove, Wisconsin. In this district, he teaches at Brookfield Elementary School, instructing 4th and 5th graders in weekly band lessons and rehearsals. Eli has done a considerable amount of composing for the band students at this school. Now residing in Milwaukee, he is an active performer in the Menomonee Falls Community Symphony Orchestra and at his church, Spring Creek Church, in Pewaukee, Wisconsin.
