Carl James Corcoran was born in Denison, Iowa, USA. He began studying
piano, guitar, music theory, and electronic music at age 12. By 9th
grade, Carl was performing original jazz compositions and arrangements
with his high school jazz band. In 1998, Carl enrolled in Berklee
College of Music to study film scoring and performance. At Berklee, he
played with a mixture of ensembles including the MIT Symphony
Orchestra, Bob Parins Band, Classical Brass, Berklee Jazz Sextet, and
the Berklee Concert Band.
His compositions have also been featured by performances of the
Daugherty, Davis, McPartland Trio, The Sidewinders, and the Level-1
Contest for electronic music.
In 2001, Carl moved to Seattle and now continues to compose, arrange,
and perform regularly.
