Linda A. Meier is a life-long Wisconsin resident who graduated from Middleton High School and obtained a combined Bachelor Degree in Instrumental and Choral Music Education for grades K-12 from Milton College in Milton, Wisconsin. She continued her musical studies in conducting, vocal pedagogy and education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison as well as Edgewood and Cardinal Stritch Colleges. |
As an active member of the Wisconsin School Music Association (WSMA), she is Chairperson of the state Festival Music Selection Committee and Music Review Committee for the Music Festival List. Ms. Meier is also a frequent adjudicator and clinician for both District and State Solo and Ensemble Festivals, State Large Group Choral Festivals and Wisconsin State Honor Choir auditions as well as having been invited to adjudicate at the Michigan State High School Choral Festival for many years.
Beginning in 1988, she held several positions with the Wisconsin State Honor Music Project starting as staff member and becoming Mixed Choir Coordinator from 1994-1996. From 1998-2004 she was named Chairperson of the project which included overseeing six select State Honor music ensembles and their staffs. Also a member of the Wisconsin Choral Directors Association (WCDA), she has been a guest conductor for Singing In Wisconsin several times, is the current High School Standards and Repertoire Chairperson and was Chairperson of the 2007 All-State Treble Choir. In July of 2010, she also participated as a co-director for the annual state choral directors Singspiel Summer Music Camp.
Ms. Meier was the Choral Director and Fine Arts Department Chairperson at DeForest High School for 35 years, retiring in June of 2009. She directed three curricular choirs, extracurricular Madrigal and Vocal Jazz Ensembles and taught all voice lessons. Her students District and State Festivals and were selected to participate in various choral venues both locally and nationally including San Francisco, Minneapolis, Chicago, New Orleans, Washington D.C. and New York City.
Ms. Meier currently sings with two choral ensembles, the University of Wisconsin-Madison Madrigals and the Heartland Singers. She continues to be involved in sharing her passion for music education as a part-time Program Associate for the WSMA and through frequent choral clinic and guest conducting opportunities.
