Growing up in a musical family provided Hermodson with his first love- vocal music. His mother was an accomplished pianist; his father a strong tenor. His siblings continue to be involved in vocal music as well. |
Hermodson attended Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota, where he sang tenor for four years in the Concert Choir, under the direction of Dr. Paul J. Christianson. This underscored his love of the choral music tradition.
Choral groups and soloists have found all of Hermodson’s compositions to be very “singable.” His tunes are melodic; his harmonies easy to understand. His lyrics are his own, although some of his religious themes are based on Biblical texts.
All of his many compositions will have been performed by local groups before they are offered to the general public.
Hermodson lives with his wife in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, where he continues to perform in solo and choral venues while creating new compositions.
