Becky Archibald is an award-winning pianist, composer, recording artist, and educator. Spanning solo piano to chamber music to jazz, Becky’s music has taken her far – from Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall (solo debut, 2006) to the Dordogne Jazz Summer School (DJSS) in Monteton, France (composer-in-residence since 2009. Her music has been placed on cable and network television in the U.S., Canada and Mexico, and in countries overseas, including China, Japan, Hong Kong, France, Finland, Poland, Russia and the UK.

A graduate of Anderson University in Indiana, Becky holds a Master in Piano Performance from California State University at Long Beach. Her life took a new direction when she wrote a piano piece for her mom’s birthday in 1997—her first composition, Searching. She has released 6 CDs (Searching, The Long Ride Home, The Light at the End of the Blues, The Christmas One, Mood Swing and Midnight at Monteton) which have played on radio stations around the country and overseas, including NPR’s All Things Considered.

In 2013, Becky was commissioned by the Central Indiana Community Foundation to write the “Cultural Trail Theme,” a jazz composition dedicated to the Indianapolis Cultural Trail, a world-class urban bike and pedestrian path. She has been commissioned by the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra, Ronen Chamber Ensemble, Indianapolis Saxophone Quartet, Glenna & Hunter Heath, Kent Leslie and Ascending, and has received premieres by Fishers Chamber Players, Butler University Composers’ Orchestra, Farrelly/Markiewicz Jazz Quartet, Anderson University Jazz-tet and Alias Chamber Ensemble in Nashville, TN.

Becky is a recipient of the Creative Renewal Fellowship from the Arts Council of Indianapolis, as well as grants from the Indiana Arts Commission, ASCAPlus, and the Indianapolis Foundation. She has performed at universities and schools throughout Indiana, as well as Hilbert Theatre’s Wood Room, Indiana History Center, Indiana Landmarks, American Cabaret Theatre, Grove Haus, Chatterbox Jazz Club and The Jazz Kitchen. A 2009 recipient of the Outstanding Alumni in Music Award from Anderson University, Archibald began teaching there in 2010.

As Professor of Composition, she serves as co-leader of the AU Jazz-tet, leads a class on creativity in music and is a private instructor in composition and piano. She also teaches privately in Indianapolis. More information is available at http://beckyarchibald.com.
