Clarisa De la Garza is currently a music education student at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and a private elementary and secondary music teacher. Her primary studies include clarinet, conducting, and composition, as well as secondary interest in piano. She has taken clarinet lessons with professor William OíNeil and performed with the university clarinet ensemble from the age of thirteen.

She has performed numerous works of advanced repertoire including Stravinskyís Three Pieces, Karg-Elertís Clarinet Sonata, and Coplandís Clarinet Concerto, and has wind ensemble, orchestral, opera, and chamber experience. Conducting experience includes directing various works for UTRGVís symphonic band, clarinet ensemble, and chamber orchestra.

Her compositions include Prelude for Piano, Duo for Clarinet and Cello, Five Spacial Abstractions: Developmental Variations for Clarinet and Piano, and title.exe, an electroacoustic work. She has also done freelance work for various film and gaming projects as a soundtrack composer. Currently in progress for academic music includes a brass quintet, piece for clarinet ensemble, and piece for two clarinets and piano. Upon graduation from university she plans to pursue a higher education in conducting.
