NICOLÁS OCAMPO / Bio
Saxophone player, Composer, Arranger and teacher born in Altos de Chipión, in the east of Córdoba, Argentina. Moved to Córdoba City to study saxophone at the Music Academy "La Colmena" where he graduated. Took lessons and attended seminars with John Stowell, Nick Homes, Carlos Lastra, Ramiro Flores, Carlos "Negro" Aguirre, Juan Quintero, Ernesto Jodos, Marcelo Moguilevsky, Ricardo Cavalli and Daniel Yvinec. |
Since 2002 has been part of several bands and ensembles, covering a rich palette of styles. he Has composed and produced music for theater, dance, jingles for TV, interactive media and ensembles.
Currently Nicolas is the director and arranger of the "Córdoba Jazz Orchestra", an important local Big Band, focused on performing original repertoire made of remarkable local composers.
Also, he is a member of OMVR Quartet, A refined jazz quartet launching in 2015 the album "Colectivo (collective)", selected that year by the "Program of Support Label Edition 2014" of the Major Office of Cordoba and was awarded by the General Society of Authors and Writers of Spain (SGAE).
Nicolás is also a professor at the Music Academy "La Colmena".
Together with Nicolas Mazza and Mauro Ciavattini, he is the organizer of the ‘Encuentro Nacional de Vientistas/Córdoba’ (‘National summit of Winds in Córdoba), an event that meets annually in central Argentina over 300 "wind instruments" players and teachers since 2012.
Nicolas shared the stage with artists such as Leo Genovese, Cirilo Fernandez, Nicolas Sorin, Mariano Sivori and Daniel "Pipi" Piazzolla, with violinist Cirque du Soleil: Stéphane Allard (Canada), Manu Codjia (France), Minino Garay (Argentina) Francois Corneloup (France), Sebastien Texier (France), Steve Zens (Usa), Louis Moutin (France), German Siman (Argentina) and Oscar Giunta (Argentina). He has toured with different projects for Latin America.
