Mark Eliot Jacobs is a composer residing in southern Oregon. He is on the music faculty at Southern Oregon University where he teaches composition, music theory, and low brass. He holds the degree of Doctor of Music in composition from Northwestern University (1986) where he studied with Stephen Syverud, Peter Gena, and Ben Johnston. |
Mark is a musician at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland, Oregon (2009 – present). His assignments there have included playing recorder, lute, hurdy-gurdy, trombone, ophicleide, serpent, and sackbut. He is also principal trombone with the Rogue Valley Symphony.
Mark’s orchestral tone poem Las Ranas de Katanchel was premiered by the Rogue Valley Symphony, Martin Majkut, director in 2010. In 2013, it was recorded by the Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra for the Navona Compact Disc release Spellbound.
