First published in 1975, this piece was quickly hailed by Dr. Donald S.George (who premiered the composition) as one of the finest additions to the clarinet choir literature in the past decade. Norman Heim in the Instrumentalist Magazine and the Clarinet Choir Newsletter recommended Kroyer Variationsas a solid addition to the clarinet choir standard repertoire list. This theme and variations has been on the WSMA class A contest list, and has had numerous performances across the country. The most recent performance (as noted by BMI) occurred in Japan.
