"Soft-Spoken" is a jazz combo tune written for three instruments and a rhythm section. The three melody "horns" are a rather unique combination (i.e., alto flute, trumpet in harmon mute, guitar) and the swing style tune is set in a jazz waltz style. To add even more interest the occasional addition of afro-cuban colors are thrown into the mix. For all the seeming complexity the tune flows easily and is a pleasure to play. |
