"7 for Five" by Chris Theo was written in 1997. This work is written for five percussionists playing a number of percussion instruments. It is scored for:
Perc. 1 - Cymbal on Timp, Timpani, large tom-tom.
Perc. 2 - Gong, Temple blocks, Marimba, Pipes, large tom-tom.
Perc. 3 - Sus. Pipes, Bell Tree, China Cym., Slit drum, Split bamboo, large Tom-tom.
Perc. 4 - Glass bottles, 4 Tom-toms, Wind chimes, Vibes, Trash can lid, Cymbal, large Tom-tom.
Perc. 5 - Vibes, Gong, Crotales, Temple blocks, Tambourine, Hi-hat Cymbals, Bottles, 4 Tom-toms.
The entire composition is written with 7 beats to the measure as the title implies. The last section is quite flashy and has a drum corps flair to it. The are some sections of improvisation required. |
