||"Song for Anna" was written in 1999 by Frank Ferriano. It is set for Jazz ensemble and written for his Grand-daughter Anna Carolyn. This is a jazz waltz with quarter note = 200 bpm. The tune starts with the melody being stated by Alto sax, Tenor Sax and Trumpet. After a full band statement ,Trpt. 4 gets a chance to stretch out. The Alto and Tenor players also get a chance to solo. The sax section gets a nice workout followed by full band. Lead trpt. hits a high D at the end. This is a Bill Evans inspired jazz waltz that can be performed by a good high school ensemble as well as college and professional groups.
