"Los Tambores Grandes" was wriiten by Mark Powers in 2005. This is a work for 5 pitched bass drums. It makes use of rim sounds, 4/4 and 6/8 meters. This is a fun piece with a two drum ostinato section and some quick player-to-player 16ths. This will provide a nice challenge for young, intermediate percussionists. Very clever interplay between the bass drums with intelligent use of dynamics and accents. This will give your marching line students something to do outside of the marching season. Great as a feature in a concert situation. |
