"Not Now, Bateman!" is a great Trombone section feature by Chris Gallaher. It is a swing style in a medium tempo. Trumpets use cup mutes for a bit at the beginning. 1st Trombone solos. Perfect for a mid-level jazz ensemble.
A fun piece. Note the relaxed backbeat feel in the drums. A well-conceived chart has excellent form with no “excess baggage”. Title comes from a line in an old, old Bela Lugosi/Boris Karloff movie. |
