"Heptagon" was written in 2006 by David Bixler for the professional sax quartet "JAZZAX". As the title implies there are seven movements. Mvt. A - Andante; Mvt. B - Half note = 110; Mvt. C - Quarter note = 124; Mvt. D - Quarter note = 132; Mvt. E - Quarter note = 108; Mvt. F - Quarter note = 124; Mvt. G - Presto, Half note = 120. The work is scored for Sop. Sax, Alto Sax, Tenor Sax, Bari Sax. This is a well-written piece and everyone gets a workout. Heptagon was written for the quartet JAZZAX.. It consists of seven short movements that are different settings of the same motivic material. |
