||"Trauermusik" by Carl Seale has been recently written (2006) and scored for String Orchestra. A slow tempo makes this work accessible for younger orchestras. Lovely melody with nice harmonies.
"Trauermusik" for string orchestra is a four-minuet work with lyrical lines throughout for all players. The title indicates a somber, gentle attitude or literally, funeral music. The piece begins in f minor and resolves in the relative major key of a-flat. The melodic responsibility is distributed among all parts somewhat evenly. The composer writes, “I don’t want to be left out of my own funeral service, so I have instructed this piece to be played by a string ensemble at that service. As the saying goes ‘He who tooteth not his own horn, that same horn geteth not tooted’. To the end”.
