||“Ambledance Polka” was transcribed by the composer, Carl Seale, in 2006 from an earlier composition for intermediate string orchestra. It is scored for for five saxophones s-a-a-t-b with an “ossia” soprano obligato. Melodic interest moves from soprano and alto sax, to tenor and back again. The balance of the ensemble provides the all-important rhythmic and harmonic accompaniment. The obligato in the soprano provides a challenge for your star soprano player. The piece can be successfully played with or without the obligato.
