"Wind Canyon Overture" was written in 2007 by Timothy James Graham for String Orchestra. Dur. approx. 8:00
"Wind Canyon Overture" is a programmatic piece which recollects the memories of my first experience on horseback in the rugged and beautiful badlands of North Dakota. The opening theme reflects the beauty of morning, followed by a feisty, contrapuntal hoedown borrowing quotes of the guitar riff from the rock star Prince’s "Let’s Go Crazy". After a brief imitation of Ravel’s "Bolero" the piece transitions into a slow and reflective _ section which attempts to musically recreate the experience of being totally at one with nature in the vast wilderness of the badlands. The piece ends as it begins, with a recap of the opening theme. |
