| Description |
"Quintet for Oboe, Clarinet, Violin, Viola, & Double Bass" was written in 1996 by Dave Anderson. Mvt. 1 = Moderato; Mvt. 2 = Adagio; Mvt. 3 = Scherzo; Mvt. 4 = Largo; Mvt. 5 = Finale. Duration: Approx. 25 min. The composer writes: "I have always loved the Prokofiev Quintet and had always hoped to write a piece that could be included on the same program with the same instrumentation. I was commissioned by the Kentucky Center Chamber Players for a new piece and we agreed that this would be an excellent project. There are many influences in this piece (in addition to Prokofiev), including Shostakovich, Barber, and of course my teacher and mentor, Frank Proto. There is an excellent CD by the Kentucky Chamber Players "Between Tides" that includes the Quintet: http://www.arkivmusic.com/classical/Namedrill?&name_id=123104&name_role=1". |
