| Description |
"A Set of Songs and Dances" was written by Douglas Hill in 2006. This work is scored for: Horn, Clarinet, Vibes/Percussion, String Bass. The composer writes: "This set of pieces was composed for and commissioned by the internationally acclaimed horn soloist and professor Gail Williams, through Northwstern University. The clarinet part was composed for her artist husband Larry Combs of the Chicago Symphony. The original plan was to create a suite of dances in the style of the Baroque period with a touch of jazz. THe jazz took over and the Suite became a Set of congenial melodies along with many rollicking rhythms. The unique combination of instrumental timbres and textures will hopefully add to the fun for both the performers and their audiences". Dur.: 19:00 |
