||"Jazz Espagnol" was written in 1974 by Al Cobine. It is available again through Really Good Music, LLC. This is an extended original by Al which explores many of the Hispanic influences in Jazz. The tune opens in a symphonic style with traditional Spanish phrases and scales. Then the Soprano sax leads a soli section over a Rumba rhythm. It evolves into a Bossa/Rock, then Hard Rock into an up tempo Swing style. After an open Drum solo the tune returns to the Rumba to a big ending. Al challenges each section with key changes (C,D,F,D), use of mutes, tempo and dynamic changes, etc. Great tune to feature the band!
