The Finale from "The Fire Bird Suite" by Stravinsky has been arranged for Trombone Quartet by Susan Vanderscheuren. This exciting classic works very well for Trombones. This trombone quartet captures the essence of Stravinsky’s original work. It begins with a haunting solo in the first trombone. The rest of the quartet enters, supporting the solo with deep, rich tones. As the melody is developed it leads to the transitional chromatic section where each part
enters in its turn, building an almost frenzied energy of sound and emotion. The climatic final section is driven by the timpani-like part in the bass trombone. The piece concludes with a moving chord progression. |
