||"Major Scale Exercise w/Drums" was written in 2003 by Dennis Lester. This is a helpful learning tool for percussionists. The keyboard player plays variations of a C Major scale and the snare drummers(s) play variations (i.e., stickings, diddles, doubles, rolls, drags, flams) on each repeat. It starts with two octaves up and down, the "Green" exercise, scale in 3rds, arpeggios and slurred rolls with increasing intervals going up and down. It can taught by rote. Once itís memorized try it on the F Major scale, then B-flat, etc.
