||"For Bud" by Harold Danko has been arranged for Jazz Ensemble by Dr. Eric Schmitz This challenging chart features several different styles (straight-ahead bebop, Latin and “classical”) and some fun rhythmic ideas (including sections in 5/4). The hip, quirky melody is played by solo trumpet, then joined with a counterline in tenor. Ample solo space is provided for trumpet and tenor, over some advanced plateau modal harmonies. Alto 1 doubles on flute (good doubling chops necessary). Scored for five trumpets, with lead range to D above the staff. If you have an advanced band hungry for a challenge, this is a good one.
