||"Freedom Jazz Dance" by Eddie Harris has been arranged by Troy Thompson. This 1965 classic by Eddie Harris works very well in this new arrangement for jazz ensemble by Troy Thompson. Some challenging sections that are well worth the effort. Also available as a PDF. The arranger writes: "Freedom Jazz Dance" is an updated treatment of the classic Eddie Harris tune. Written for an advanced group and in a Funk/Rock groove, it is scored for 5 saxes, 4 trumpets, 4 trombones and 5 rhythm (g,p,b,d and auxiliary percussion). It features solo space for tenor sax and guitar but could easily be opened up for additional soloists. Lead alto range up to Ab (concert), lead trumpet to F, and lead trombone to high Bb. Itís a fun chart with plenty of challenges. Goat Roper Monthly magazine hails this arrangement as an "epic achievement" while the National Journal of Bowel Resection calls it the "feel good chart of the year! Not to be missed!"
